Keep the files you want AI to use in a shared project. Upload them through the web app, invite your team, and give a compatible assistant access to the projects you choose.

BUILT AROUND YOUR FILES
A useful home for the files your AI needs.
Keep original files together
Store any file type up to 5 GB per file, subject to project capacity. Organize files into folders and download the original bytes whenever you need them. Storage support is separate from preview and text extraction support.
Share a project with clear roles
Owners, Admins, Editors and Viewers have defined permissions. An assistant connection uses its user's current project access, with a separate read-only or read/write grant. Everyone in a project shares access to its files.
Know which version an assistant used
Each file has a stable identity, and each published revision has its own version ID and verified SHA-256 hash. Updates preserve earlier versions and check for conflicting changes before replacing the current revision.
Let agents upload directly
Agents with file and HTTP access can request short-lived upload URLs and send file parts directly to storage. The server checks the completed upload before making the new version available to people or assistants.
HOW IT WORKS
From your files to your next conversation.
01
Create a project for the work
Use a project for a team, client engagement or research task. Add folders and invite the people who should be able to use its files.
02
Upload and verify
Choose files in the web app or upload through an agent. Wait for verification to finish before using the published version. Interrupted multipart uploads can resume while their upload session remains valid.
03
Authorize your assistant
Connect a compatible MCP client, select the projects it can use, and choose read-only or read/write access. Manage and revoke your connections from the workspace.
A FEW PRACTICAL ANSWERS
Questions, answered.
What is file storage for AI?
It is a place to keep source files that an authorized assistant can find and retrieve through a connector. Files for AI also gives people a web workspace for managing those files, their versions and project membership.
Which file types and sizes can I upload?
Files for AI accepts all file types up to 5,000,000,000 bytes per file. Project capacity also applies. Some formats are download-only: accepting a file does not mean its contents can be previewed or searched.
Can an assistant access every project in my account?
You select the projects for each connection. A connection cannot gain more access than your current membership allows, and creating another project does not automatically add it to an existing grant.
Does cloud storage automatically synchronize my computer?
No. Web uploads and agent uploads are explicit actions. A remote connector cannot inspect your desktop. The desktop application's separate linking workflow uses manual push and pull with conflict checks.
